Owner Frequently Asked Questions
I appreciate your interest in Bluegrass Canine Dog Training Center. I have attempted to answer some of the most frequently asked questions from owners. If you don't see your answer here, just give me a call or email.
1. What does it cost?
The obedience and manners program costs $1250.00 This includes advanced off leash training. All taxes and equipment are included in the price. The second dog in the same family or group is 1/2 price as long as schedules are the same for lessons. Payment is due in at the 1st lesson.
2. What is included?
Lessons are private. Commands covered include loose lead walk, heel, sit, sit/stay, down, down/stay and come when called. Advanced off leash control is included.
3. If you train my dog, will he/she work for me?
Because you will come out each week for a private lesson, your dog will learn to work for you. The training is relationship based, private, and customized for you and your dog. You will learn as your dog learns, and become the leader you dog always wanted! You will learn leadership skills as well as dog psychology to create the pack structure your dog needs to be comfortable with you and your family.
4. What is your training "method"?
I use a mixture of methods. I am a balanced trainer, using both praise and fair, consistent, correction. I also use a variety of equipment to train. As I would use several different bits with a young horse, we may use 3-4 different collars in a training progression of a young dog. I let the dog decide what collar he will respect and respond to.
5. How many dogs are at the lesson?
The lessons are private. This allows your dog to learn WITHOUT distractions. We will introduce distractions after the dog has learned how to properly respond to stimuli. I will always set you and your dog up for success and fun, and increasing challenges will be added to teach both of you to feel confident in any environment.
6. Is there a "guarantee"?
What I can guarantee is that your dog will learn the commands. I cannot guarantee your commitment to the training process. The dogs are always the easy part of the equation, and people training has become my specialty! I will work diligently to help you understand why your dog reacts as he/she does, and to help you correct and expand your dogs life. Creating your ideal dog is my favorite job. Clear requirements and goals are explained in detail for you when we discuss your dog.
7. What about behavior modification and rehabilitation?
Give me a call for information about behavior modification and rehabilitation. You can be reassured that I have extensive experience with any dog behaviors. Although your dog's behavior may be particularly upsetting to you, rest assured there is a simple answer that will help and I can provide the answers you need. With a partnership between myself, you, and your dog, we can usually tackle any problem with successful results.
What we dont do?
I dont do dog grooming. I dont do group classes, although of course dogs will learn how to be properly socialized in your lessons. I dont do in home training unless its a special situation.
